Development of Basic Skills
Development of Basic Skills Basic Skills support is targeted at those who can most benefit from the additional help.
The help is provided via the Learning Support team. Parents are consulted before students join these programmes.
The school operates homework clubs at lunchtime and after school.
Education for those with ALN
The provision of teaching for ALN is an integrated part of mainstream education. There is one teaching group where additional student support is provided as specified in the school policy on providing for additional special educational needs.
The size of this group is restricted to provide maximum individual attention. The group is taught by one teacher for much of the time to allow for a more thematic approach to their learning.
The Curriculum 11 - 16
Where possible, the school will provide a curriculum that ensures a balance between the 11 curriculum areas as suggested by the National Curriculum, and those cross-curricular elements such as Personal and Social Education. Support is provided, within the resources of the school, for those who have learning difficulties.
