Years 10 & 11

Key Stage 4 / National Curriculum

As your child reaches the end of Year 9, they will be allowed to choose a combination of subjects to study throughout Y10-11, which will lead to accreditation.

Students will be fully supported and advised by teaching staff, as well as yourselves, with consultations and open evenings to ensure they choose the right subjects to study. Please note that course admissions depend on student uptake, the individual’s ability, potential, and previous efforts, as well as on the school’s resources to meet the demands.

The Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenges are covered within relevant subject areas and through collapsed timetable days. The vast majority will sit GCSE examinations, but a few pupils will sit the BTEC, Entry Level Qualification (ELQ) exam, or NVQ.

Some vocational courses are offered in partnership with Grwp Llandrillo-Menai. The decision as to which course a student follows is taken in line with academic attainment and vocational pathway.

Some of the alternative/vocational pathways are provided through partnership arrangements with other local educational establishments.
